Thanks to the Big Buddy Program 16th Annual Day of the Mentor, BRAVE had fun visiting the East Baton Rouge Parish Library with our mentee last week.
BATON ROUGE, La. – Thursday, October 14, Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination (BRAVE) will welcome community members to celebrate a ribbon cutting for their new office and 70802 area code grant expansion. Beignets and coffee will be provided at 9 a.m., with a press conference and facility tour to follow at 10 a.m. The new BRAVE office is located at the Family & Youth Services Center (FYSC), directed by Roxson Welch, at 1120 Government St. Baton Rouge, 70802.
A press conference will be held to explain the BRAVE 70802 grant expansion and answer questions. Director of Office of Social Service Research and Development (OSSRD), Cecile Guin, will be presenting research by the Louisiana State University School of Social Work on selection of the 70802 neighborhood.
70805 Director Lt. Herbert “Tweety” Anny will be introducing the BRAVE 70802 Director, Capt. Rodney Walker. Special guests will include: Mayor Holden, District Attorney Moore, Sheriff Geautreaux, BRPD Chief Dabadie and Pastor Herman Kelly of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
BATON ROUGE, La. – Saturday, October 11, ExxonMobil and Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination (BRAVE) will present HOPE Fest, a free community festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. HOPE Ministries will be hosting the festival at 4643 Winbourne Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70805.
The focus of the festival is to bring community members together to enjoy a day of family events and fun in the 70805 neighborhood. The community festival includes free food, door prizes, and entertainment.
ExxonMobil volunteers will host a chemistry “magic show,” environmental demonstration and a variety of local organizations will share information about safety, emergency preparedness and other important topics.
Event sponsors ExxonMobil, BRAVE, The North Baton Rouge Chemical Industry Task Force and HOPE Ministries aim to help Baton Rouge community members develop a better understanding of social services provided at HOPE Ministries.
