BATON ROUGE, La. – This Saturday, June 29, an anti-violence event called Cease 4 Peace will be held in the 70805 ZIP code, at the corner of Byron Street and Annette Street from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination (BRAVE), Brookstown Civic Association, Elevate Church, Mandinka Warriors Motorcycle Club, Salvation Army and Set Free Indeed Ministries, will have live music, free food, giveaways and community resources.
BRAVE and other event sponsors are working to unite the community to stop the violence that is plaguing the area. They are encouraging the community to speak out against the violence by letting BRAVE at (225) 239-7835 or CrimeStoppers at (225) 344-STOP know any information you may have. The Cease 4 Peace event is the first in a series of summer events focusing on anti-violence. For more information, please contact BRAVE Project Director Herbert “Tweety” Anny at (225) 239-7835 or Set Free Indeed Ministries CEO Tonja Myles.
Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination (BRAVE) is designed to reduce juvenile crime in the 70805 ZIP code through the strengthening of police-community relationships, encouraging the community to unite against violence, promoting school engagement and connecting families to community resources.
